Fabrication for In the Belly of the Serpent
A piece by Star Feliz, presented by LAND (Los Angeles Nomadic Division), to be displayed in Los Angeles Historic Park from September - December 2023
My team was tasked with fabricating the armature underneath the adobe. It needed to be transportable and able to support the weight of the adobe (and any children who may use the piece as a jungle gym). We cut, bent, and welded steel bars and filled in the gaps with expanded steel as well as various scraps of metal. We included boxes (pictured above) where the pieces of the serpent were bolted togeather which we filled in with cut, foam cubes in order to make dismateling easier.
